How to Make a Radar Chart Online
- Add your data. Paste cells copied from Excel or Google Sheets into the Data box, or upload an .xlsx, .xls or .csv file. The sample data shows the layout.
- Check the headers. The first row is used as column names when it has no numbers in it; untick "First row is headers" if that guess is wrong.
- Give the chart a title. It is drawn at the top of the image and used for the file names.
- Download. PNG for slides, documents and email (drawn at twice the on-screen size so it stays sharp), SVG for print and the web, or Excel for the numbers behind the chart.
When to Use a Radar Chart
A radar chart, also called a spider or web chart, gives each attribute its own spoke from the center and joins the scores into a shape. It is good for comparing a few profiles across the same five to ten attributes: skills assessments, product feature scores, player stats.
Shapes are easy to compare at a glance but hard to read exactly, so keep all attributes on the same scale (for example 0 to 10) and do not use it for precise comparisons.
How to Lay Out Your Data
Attributes in the first column (at least three), one column of scores per profile after it. Each score column becomes a colored shape. All spokes share one scale that starts at zero.
How to Make a Radar Chart in Excel
To build the same chart natively in Excel, download the Excel file above (or use your own sheet) and:
- Select the attributes and the score columns, including headers.
- Go to Insert > Insert Waterfall, Funnel, Stock, Surface or Radar Chart.
- Choose Radar with Markers, or Filled Radar.
- To fix the scale (for example 0 to 10), right-click the value axis, choose Format Axis and set Minimum and Maximum.
What This Radar Chart Maker Does Not Do
- Every spoke starts at zero; negative scores are drawn at the center.
- Up to eight profiles, though more than three overlapping shapes are hard to read.
Other Chart Makers
Every chart maker takes the same pasted or uploaded data, and you can switch type in the Chart type box without retyping anything. To chart a whole workbook column by column, with grouping by sum, count or average, use the Excel chart maker.
- Bar Graph Maker: Compare categories as bars; paste data, download PNG or Excel.
- Line Graph Maker: Plot a trend over time with one line per series.
- Pie Chart Maker: Show parts of a whole with percentages worked out.
- Scatter Plot Maker: Plot X against Y to see whether two numbers are related.
- Doughnut Chart Maker: A pie chart with the total shown in the center.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Radar chart, spider chart, web chart and star plot all name the same thing. Excel calls it a radar chart.
Each attribute is a spoke in the order of your rows, and the shape joins neighboring spokes. Reordering rows changes which scores sit next to each other, so the area of the shape changes. Group related attributes together and keep the order the same when you compare charts.
Avoid it. The spokes share one scale, so a 0-100 attribute would dwarf a 0-5 one. Convert every attribute to the same scale first, for example as a percentage of its maximum.
It contains the chart's data, laid out the way Excel's Insert > Chart expects, not a chart object. Open it, select the cells and insert the chart type named in the steps above; it takes a few seconds and gives you a native chart you can restyle. For a finished picture, use Download PNG.
No. Pasted data and uploaded files are read and drawn in your browser, and the PNG, SVG and Excel files are made there too. Nothing is sent to a server.
