How to Remove Formatting in Excel

Why Excel's Own Clear Formats Is Not Quite This
Excel has Home > Clear > Clear Formats, and it works - but it is all or nothing, and it takes number formats with it. Run it over a sheet of invoice dates and you get five-digit serial numbers; run it over a currency column and you get bare decimals. That is rarely what someone means by "remove the formatting" - they mean the inherited fills, the pasted-in fonts, the highlight somebody left behind.
So number formats are off by default here, and each other category is a separate switch. Clear the colours and keep the dates readable.
Values and Formulas Are Never Touched
This tool only removes presentation. Every cell keeps its value, and every formula keeps its formula - the before and after previews sit side by side precisely so you can confirm that before downloading. Merged cells and column widths are left alone unless you ask, because unmerging a title block or resetting widths changes the layout rather than the formatting.
